If you've read my profile, you know that I am (unofficially) the world's #1 comics fangirl. In that capacity, it's my duty to share my thoughts on my favorite titles each week. Admittedly, the boys may find my tastes a little girly, but lighten up & embrace your feminine side a little, guys!
To warm you up- ;9 -my fav creators are *Nicola Scott*, *Gail Simone*, Chris Samnee, & Brian K Vaughn.
So, without further ado, let's pump this mutha out!

Crisis on Infinite Earths~"Beyond the Silent Night"
Marv Wolfman, George Perez, Dick Giordano, Mike DeCarlo,
Jerry Ordway, Anthony Tollin, Tom Ziuko, Carl Gafford,
Tom McCraw, John Costanza
I think that it is funny that the title of my blog is 1 of the stories that probably will not exist after tonight.......
I promise next week that I will have a comic book review! But tonight it just did not feel right.......... :(
I like DC the way it is now & may be I will like it tomorrow.............I hope that I will like it tomorrow.
Good night Wally West & Donna Troy & Oracle & Billy & Mary Batson! I am sure that we will see you all soon! :')
Hay! So I hit my 52nd blog post a little bit ahead of DC issuing their new 52...........& I had considered missing a few weeks to line the 2 events up when I read Kara's comic..............Comic book week: August 10th, 2011.............. this week & knew that I could not avoid writing a review of it! Soooooo..............to get the 5 & the 2 & make this special..............2 not DC books & 5 DC books this week!
OMG! I could not read 52 comix in 1 week! 80
#7
Birds of Prey #15 (DC)
(Andreyko, Tucci, Melo, Mayer, Ferreira)
"War and Remembrance Part Two"
All of the regular creators on this comic said good bye 2 ishes ago & this story is no more than a fill in but it is a great fill in! Andreyko adds Manhunter & Phantom Lady to the normal cast & Tucci............although cheesecakie...............is a fabulous artist!
Not really any reason to recommend buying the next ish but the story of the last ish & this 1 are definitelt worth the tpb............trade paper back natch ;)!
RATING: 9 ½ Stephs Out of 10!!!!
#6
The New Avengers #15 (Marvel)
(Bendis, Deodato, Beredo)
Every time that I see Squirrel Girl it is like the writer is trying to take a character that should be completely absurd & trying to make her seem serious............Brian Michael Bendis actually manages to succeed!
This story is all about Squirrel Girl..........Doreen Green. She talks to squirrels & she is nanny to Jessica Jones & Luke Cage`s daughter. This ish is all about her in the middle of the war that is Fear Itself & she may be 1 of my new fav characters!
But Spidey`s new white costume is XP!
RATING: 7 Stephs out of 10!!!!
#5
Batman and Robin #26 (DC)
(David Hine, Greg Tocchini, Andrei Bressan)
"Earthly Delights~Scenes From A Work In Progress"
Until I began to write this I thought Grant Morrison wrote this ish. If you like Grant then you will like this story...........if you do not like Grant then you will not like this ish!
It is creepy & disturbing & the final panel will haunt you for ever! I ♥ed it!
RATING: 7 Stephs out of 10!!!!
#4
Fear Itself #5 (Marvel)
(Fraction, Immonen, Von Grawbadger, Martin)
"Brawl"
I explained previously why I did not like the 4th ish of this series. But I also explained that up to the point that ruined it for me it was not that bad..............& so ish #5 redeems "Fear Itself" for me. This is not as good as "Crisis On Infinite Earths" & while I do not know how the story will end I do not fore see many huge surprises in the next 2 books............but it is far better than Marvel's last several cross overs in that it is not trying to be any thing more than what it is............a big fight.
RATING: 7 Stephs out of 10!!!!
#3
American Vampire~Survival of the Fittest #3 (Vertigo/DC)
(Scott Snyder, Sean Murphy)
"Survival of the Fittest Part 3"
This is not really DC & it will still be around a month from now but it must be appreciated because this is why comix exist! Scott Snyder appears to know why sequential art exists & why it is not a novel or a movie. Like an arc from the main series that it is developed from, this story could easily have fit in with that series but more can only be better for American Vampire!
RATING: 8 ½ Stephs Out of 10!!!!!
#2
Detective Comics #881 (DC)
(Scott Snyder, Francesco Francavilla)
"the face in the glass"
My bf told me that his friend & coworker wanted him to read the Flashpoint Batman series.............that on message boards there were discussions that Thomas Wayne should be made the new Batman in the new 52............this issue explains who Dick Grayson is................why he is not Bruce Wayne.................why he may not be the force of nature that Bruce is but why he is perhaps the most heroic of all the characters in all the DC universe.................& creates maybe the most terrifying villain that DC has ever had!
RATING: 9 Stephs out of 10!!!!!!
#1
Batgirl #24 (DC)
(Brian Q. Miller, Pere Perez)
"Unsinkable"
Batgirl #24 is the most perfect good bye story ever written........end it now............I do not want any more!
I ♥ Babs tremendously! I dearly hope that some day she & Dick get to have their moment together & Babs rolls...........or walks..............down the aisle & the 2 share that moment that makes me break into tears!
I hope that Cassandra Cain never goes away & continues to be the female that can beat every other fighter in the DC universe.........without so much as a flinch!
I hope that Katherine Kaine fights as Batwoman & stays true to her self & shines at the front of a new generation of DC heroes!
Steph Brown as of this issue is now & for ever more my Batgirl.........
why dc! why introduce the possibility of yyoung justice &
throw all chances out the window? :'(
Miller & Perez say good bye to Steph & in the process show us all that might have been.............this ish was intended to tell us all that things may change but nothing can make us for get what came before.................but in the process of doing so I feels like we are losing a friend............a human being.............& a hero!
Goodbye, Steph! Thank-you for 2 years of pure joy! :')
steph is my new hero! not heroine........hero! :')
Yah it has been a whole month since I did the good & the bad & the ugly so I decided to try it again! So for Comic book week August 3rd, 2011 here we go again!
Secret Six #36 (DC)
writer: Gail Simone
artist: J. Calafiore
colorist: John Kalisz
letterer: Travis Lanham
cover: Calafiore with Kalisz
assistant editor: Rickey Purdin
editor: Rachel Gluckstern
"Caution to the Wind Part Two of Two: Blood Honor"
This is the final issue & I am sad. :'(
Continued from the last part where Bane..........the villain in the new Batman movie btw!............has decided that he has to really beat Batman before he dies & goes to hell because he has found out that he is not the honorable person that he thought that he was.
good is bad & bad is good & i am soooooooo confused & happy & sad! o,O
So he leads the 8 members of the 6 to Gotham City to tear out Batman's heart in a very unique way. Only 1 of the 6 betrays him & we get a great big free for all! & Bane, Catman ( ;;9 ), Scandal Savage, Jeannette, Knockout, Deadshot, Ragdoll, King Shark........he's a shark! lol!.......& the new member from last ish get a wonderful big fight scene to go away with a splash!
The art work by Calafiore is fabulous as always & the colors & letters & inks are vibrant & exciting & tell the story that had to be told..........as much as I & all the 6 fans do not want to read it.
As it has from the beginning though, the Secret 6 is Gail Simone's comic & she ends the story as only she could...........though I can not imagine how the cliff hanger she leaves the story with can play forward with the new DC universe coming up...........even if it does involve the 1 character that is least likely to change. But she manages to let the characters say good bye to the readers & to each other. Then the ending some how even apparently sets up some of the characters for the up coming Suicide Squad! 8)
Compared to many of the ending story lines of the current DC comix this makes the ending look & feel easy.............& for that Secret Six #36 gets Kara's 2nd ever................
RATING: 10 goods out of 10!!!!!!
Secret Six #36 (DC)

"Caution to the Wind Part Two of Two: Blood Honor"
As Jeannette told Scandal above...........the week the good & the bad are all the same this week! Because the end of Secret 6 is the worst thing in comix this week! :'(
From the 1st appearance of this Secret 6 in Villains United, Gail Simone has lead the losers of the 6 to greatness.
Catman went from plump to sexy...........
Bane became once again a man to be feared...........
Jeannette became 1 of my new favorite characters..............
Deadshot became a bad bad man but a bad bad man with his own moral code.............
Scandal Savage earned a place higher than her father Vandal as a villainess in the DC universe............
The Mad Hatter became a major villain & we began to care about Knockout & King Shark............
& of course Ragdoll was responsible for my personal fav quote of all time!
"I was thinking what it's like to be abandoned and tortured and abused and forgotten. When your life is so worthless that your only degraded value to anyone is when your pain gives them amusement, and the person entrusted to care for you sees you as more disposable than used tissue. But then I thought......'I wonder what it's like to ^%$# a butterfly?'"
Thanx to Ms. Gail Simone & Mr. Calafiore & Nicola Scott & Dale Eaglesham & Wade Von Grawbadger & Val Semeiks & Brad Walker & all of the wonderful creators that have made the Secret 6ers the most wonderful guilty pleasure for soooooo long! & I hope that they will not be gone for too long!
*sniff!* :'(

Wonder Woman RetroActive 1980s #1 (DC)
1st story~"Double Double..."

2nd story & reprinted from Wonder Woman #288~"Swan Song"
writer: Roy Thomas
penciller: Gene Colan
inkers: Romeo Tanghal
colorist: Carl Gafford
letterer: Ben Oda
editor: Len Wein
technical advisor: Gerry Conway
RetroActive in case you are not aware are a number of comix DC has been publishing that tell stories from the 1970s & 1980s & 1990s using the classic characters & their creators from that time as much as possible. The story is paired with an actual story from that time & the 2 try to use many of the same characters & sortof related plots & similar art work styles. In this Wonder Woman story that is from the 1980s style........before Crisis On Infinite Earths..........Diana encounters Doctor Psycho & the Silver Swan to save Colonel Steve Trevor.........which is really kindof fun when you think about it! lol!..........& tries to help her friend & room mate Etta Candy to stay on her diet. & we get to see the spinning to change her costume & her invisible jet..........in both stories. But what sets the 2 stories apart is in the reprinted story where Diana Prince reports to her superior General Darnell...........
ick!..........just ick! XP
.............seeing Princess Diana of Themiscira, Daughter of Hippolyta, the Amazing Amazon, Wonder Woman..........sexually harassed made me uncomfortable & maybe a little bit sick..............
Also the art work for the original story looked more like it was from the 1990s.
RATING: I am sorry but I would really rather not rate this 1 :(
Well that was 2 much of a downer to end on...................this makes me happy.............especially around the middle!
^シ^♥♥♥♥
Kara's Comic for July 27th, 2011 is.......................me! lol! ;*)
I ♥ you all but I need a little break this week! It is hot & the lightning means it is probably not very wise of me to be using my computer. So I will dedicate this week to Robert Downey Junior & Chris Evans........because "Captain America~The 1st Avenger" SOOOOOOOO makes me want to see "The Avengers" right now!............& really quickly are my 2 favs this week...............
Detective Comics #880 (DC)
by Scott Snyder & Jock
The cover of this issue is amazing!
"My Dark Architect" almost wraps up the last story line & the end of the series before DC re starts every thing in September & I can finally stop telling you all how fabulous Scott Snyder & Dick Grayson are together! ;9
9 smilies out of 10!!!!!

Criminal~The Last Of The Innocent #2 (Icon/Marvel)
by Ed Brubaker & Sean Phillips
I am a little bit embarrassed that both of the comix that I am mentioning this week are about crime & murder but Ed Brubaker is just such a fabulous writer & the satire of this comic just makes me want to giggle for all the wrong reasons! You really must read this & think about a certain red headed teenager & the 2 girls perpetually chasing him.........I always feel bad for Reggie..........I do not think that he is really a bad guy deep down but just frustrated! :)
