The Good ☺ , The Bad ☹ & The Ugly ☠ Part 3!

The last time that I did the good & the bad & the ugly was in August! omg! So for Comic book week November 23rd, 2011 here we go 1ce again!

I, Vampire #3 (DC)

colorist: Marcelo Maiolo
letterer: Pat Brosseau
cover artist: Jenny Frison
associate editor: Wil Moss
editor: Matt Idelson

(I, Vampire created by J.M. DeMatteis & Tom Sutton)

I thought that this may be the last time that I read I, Vampire but in this ish.........."Numb"...........I finally see where the story is starting to go & I think that I may enjoy it! :)

this is really soooooo very pretty!

In the 1st 2 ishes not I did not feel that the story was developing & kindof jumped around but with this ish the tale seems to have pointed in a direction & identified the good guy.........hottie! ;9 ............Andrew & the bad girl...........major villain is a woman! go girl! ;)) ..........& the good guy's side kicks in Professor John Troughton & vampire slayer Tig. & next ish we get to go to Gotham City & maybe meet Batman!

But in this ish it was really the art work that grabbed me! Wonderful to look at............even if an artist I  very much but I shall leave nameless pointed out some thing on twitter about other artist using photo shopped photo graphs in their work.............it left me some what suspicious of the art work on I, Vampire but I will give Andrea & Marcello the benefit of the doubt because it is so dark & pretty! 9,9

RATING: 8 goods out of 10!!!!!!!

Superman #3 (DC)

colors: Brian Buccellato, Brett Smith & Blond
letters: Carlos M. Mangual

"A Cold Day In Hell" is a fabulous throw back to a silver age Superman story told with all the fun the wonderful & amazing & fabulous master of comix George Pérez can provide with the expertly deft & sooooo talented that she makes me want to cry Nicola Scott providing beautiful art work! I really do not want to spoil any of the story but this is very much my favorite of all the new Superman comix..........not including Supergirl! ;)

If you are not reading this 1 & have never appreciated Nicola's art work..........which for several pages I for got was not the amazing Mister Pérez's!!!!!!!!!!!!!..............you should! But.............

 clark but lois & perry
r soooooo rite! :(

This isn't my Superman! :(

I miss the boy scout! Superman is the hero that is perfect! Behind the scenes maybe he is not but that is the man that we see! & this angry Batman like, Punisher kindof guy is not Superman!

But the story & art work are sooooooooooooo good so................

RATING: 2 bads out of 10!!!!!!!!

The ugly is just this!

Spidey's white costume is just...............ick! Xb

Check In On DC's New 52!

Kara's comic for Comic book week November 16th, 2011 will be a bunch just because I realized that I think that this week in the month looks to be my new fav with the new DC 52! Not that I do not  Batgirl & Aquaman & Animal Man & Batwing but this week seems to be consistently fun!

Batman #3 (DC)
(Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion)

Scott Snyder's Court of Owls story has me riveted! & the best part of the story was the flash back to Bruce Wayne's architect ancestor that started this ish.............Greg & Jonathan's art work is just fabulous in portraying the gothicness of Gotham!

9 Supergirls!!!!!!

Supergirl #4 (DC)
(Michael Green, Mike Johnson, Mahmoud Asrar, Bill Reinhold)

The newest Supergirl was not my fav...........but I am being won over ing the way that Kara truly feels like a stranger dropped in to a strange land............this ish has a feeling like Alice in Wonderland only Alice is from Wonderland & follows the rabbit in to the real world. :)

& although I still do not  her boots the rest of the costume is growing on me.............& Kara gets a power that Kal does not have............or does not know about! 9,9
9 Supergirls!!!!!!

Nightwing #3 (DC)
(Kyle Higgins, Eddy Barrows, Eduardo Pansica)

Dick Grayson & this new series has been very true to my Dick Grayson! I like that he is being brought back in to the circus life as it creates a very new element that I have not read about in other comix. & even his new love interest Raya is more tolerable to me with this ish's back story on her. :(

Also I do not know if the excuse for the name of Dick's new enemy Saiko is real but it does actually have a meaning in Japan that makes me appreciate its value more! :)
9 Supergirls!!!!!!

Justice League #3 (DC)
(Geoff Johns, Jim Lee, Scott Williams)

Although I could have done with out the very cliche Cyborg parts of this story I really enjoyed the young Wonder Woman! Diana is head strong & ready to fight & but conversely friendly & ing life............& ice cream! :)

The dialogue is not that fabulous...........I did not mind Hal's "dibs" that much as I have found him to be a bit of a jerk since the 1st ish any way :(................but the art work is fun even if Diana's costume is a little more.............less there 9,9.............than in her own comix.
7 Supergirls!!!!!

Birds of Prey #3 (DC)
(Duane Sweirczynski, Jesus Saiz)

I do not  the new Birds of Prey as much as the old Birds of Prey but I can not help but enjoy it! The art work is fabulous & the story line is compelling..............I just try to for get any thing that I ever remember about the characters.

But can some 1 explain to me Poison Ivy? She seems to have new powers that she never had in the old DC doesn't she? o,O
7 Supergirls!!!!!

Wonder Woman #3 (DC)
(Brian Azzarello, Cliff Chiang)

Please do not think that I placed Wonder Woman sooooo far down this list because I do not enjoy it............I do! Very much so! But not very much happens in this ish! There is a little bit of interaction between Diana & her mother revealing Diana's true father.............it all seems real enough but I just did not feel very much  where there should have been a lot.

But I still did  it! :)
7 Supergirls!!!!!

Captain Atom #3 (DC)
(J.T. Krul, Freddie Williams II)

I think that it is kind of humorous that Doctor Manhattan in The Watchmen was based on Captain Atom & now the new Captain Atom seems so very much not like Captain Atom but more like Doctor Manhattan.............I wonder if I'll ever get to see his............you know? 9,9 lol!

Really this was not bad by any means but I am just not being drawn in.........& the misogyny of Doctor Alexander is very much bothering me! :(
4 Supergirls

Special Bonus Review!

Captain America #4 (Marvel)
(Ed Brubaker, Steve McNiven, Jay Leisten, Justin Ponsor)

I had to add Captain America to the list! Steve McNiven's art work has been wonderful through out this series so far! & the story line has been intriguing as well!
9 Supergirls!!!!!!

That was 4 ratings of 9! Fabulous week!

Joss Whedon's Dollhouse Epitaphs #5 (Dark Horse)

"Hello? Am I talking to an actual person?"~an Ivy :)

story by: Andrew Chambliss, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tanchardoen
script by: Andrew Champliss
pencils by: Cliff Richards
inks by: Andy Owens
colors by: Michelle Madsen
letters by: Nate Piekos of Blambot®
cover by: Phil Noto
variant cover by: Frank Stockton
designer: David Nestelle
consulting editor: Scott Allie
assistant editor: Freddye Lins
editor: Sierra Hahn
publisher: Mike Richardson
special thanks to: Debbie Olshan

Kara's comic for Comic book week November 9th, 2011, is the 5th & final ish of the mini series based on the late Fox television show "Dollhouse".

I was not a tremendous fan of the television show although I am sure like all of Joss Whedon's work that it probably would have become a favorite given enough time. My bf thinks Eliza Dusku is amazing.............especially as Faith on Buffy...............but I suspect he has extra reasons that I do not! 9,9

Still, in this mini series a very good job is done to make the story self explanatory. Basically the Rossum Corporation creates a way to over write the personality of people with new personalities...............making human dolls that live in Dollhouses.................& there you have the name! :)

So the star of the show.............Echo...............has the ability to not completely lose all of her personalities. So when Rossum decides to use the new tech as a weapon...................by calling people all over the world & over writing their personalities...................Echo becomes the key to stopping them. The story then follows a group of people that have been over written by the scientist Ivy with her own personality & Alpha..............who is very much like Echo but not really some how in a way I am not really sure that I under stand & a young boy named Trevor who Alpha gave the ability to over write just little parts of his personality at a time....................& he can learn things like how to do kung fu that way.

I like Trevor! :)

Sooooooo this group is trying to find Ivy. & last ish they did, so in this ish they wrap up the story by at least slowing down Rossum's plans. But the story ends very abruptly & can only continue in another chapter.

I enjoyed the story & the art work is generally very nice although it did seem a little bit uneven through out the series............some times very faithful to the actors from the show & some times just telling the story but not really looking like the actual people.

The covers have all been beautiful & I would suggest buying the tpb.............trade paper back natch!..........just to see all of the covers...........I would hope.............although the story may be a little bit unfulfilling if no more chapters are published!

RATING: 7 phone calls out of 10!!!

& this week end I went to Hal-Con! The largest & greatest sci fi convention in Atlantic Canada! If you are in Halifax next year some time around the end of October or the start of November you should maybe come! You might see this........................

A dalek! Dalek's are cool! ;)

Omg! I forgot! Update!

Suicide Squad #3 (DC)
(Adam Glass & Cliff Richards)

This is not a review of DC's Suicide Squad from this week but I have a question that I hope that some 1 out in the internet land can answer!

Does Harley Quinn actually have an all white skin condition? I thought that she just painted her face white for her Mister J? o,O

American Vampire #20 (Vertigo / DC)

"And yet even so, I had to know."~the beast in the cave

writer: Scott Snyder
artist: Jordi Bernet
colors: Dave McCaig
letters: Jared K. Fletcher
cover by: Rafael Albuquerque
assistant editor: Joe Hughes
editor: Mark Doyle

(American Vampire created by Scott Snyder & Rafael Albuquerque)

So Kara's comic for Comic book week November 2nd, 2011, is "The Beast In The Cave Part 2".............by the wonderful Scott Snyder! I do not think that I could not like any thing that Mr. Snyder writes so let us just start off by clarifying that this will be a good review! ;)

This is the 2nd part of a story from before Skinner Sweet became the 1st American Vampire............in short hand he can survive sunlight & is more like a rattle snake than a bat................or was he? `:/

It appears that Skinner & his later enemy Jim Book grew up together................an unexpected development that does not go against any of the previous tales surprisingly! But this chapter is mostly the story of a native girl that marries a white man at a very young age & then gets purchased by vampires.............& I do not wish to spoil the story but she does become a vampire that is very central to the story................but then a major twist occurs at the end!

Oh & it is all leading to a tremendous battle between a native band & the military band of which Skinner & Book are members................& Skinner is not about to face the ambush that he sees coming! Exciting! XD

Jordi Bernet is an able replacement for the fabulous Rafael Albuquerque with wonderful scratchie art work that is very reminiscent of a Joe Kubert western story & Mr. McCaig's colors are suitably muted.

This is not my most favorite ish but that might be partly because we are sitting in the middle of the whole story but ask me again after the whole tale has been told! :)

RATING: 7 ½ Pocahantases out of 10!!!!!
