Before Watchmen~Ozymandius #1 of 6 (DC)

"It occurs to me in these final minutes before I undertake my great mission that perhaps I ought to record and explain the events that have led me to this moment"~Adrian Alexander Veidt / Ozymandius

writer: Len Wein
artist: Jae Lee
letterer: John Workman
colorist: June Chung
variant covers: Phil Jimenez with Romulo Fajardo Junior, Jim Lee with Scott Williams
assistant editor: Camilla Zhang
associate editor: Mark Doyle
editor: Will Dennis
(Watchmen created by Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons)

Kara's Comic for Comic Book Week July 4th, 2012 is the next in the Beyond Watchmen series...............I think that I should finish out the series don't you all? ;)

Soooooooo I will not go on for very long this week..................this ish starts as Adrian is near the end of the original Watchmen story & begins to tell his own origin story....................which sums up the entire ish. It may be interesting to see what may be left over for the rest of the 6 ishes! `;S

The art work by Jae Lee is absolutely breath taking! Some of his best ever! & the story by Len Wein seems the most faithful to the original story of all the series yet................perhaps Mister Wein had some inside notes from Mister Moore when they both worked on the original Watchmen? 9,9 hmmmmmmmmmm...............

I think that that pretty much sums it up..............short & sweet like me! lol! ;b ................okay so not so short................ ;b

RATING: 9 buttons out of 10!!!!!!!

So this is my 99th post! I want the 100th to be special so I may need 2 weeks to get it ready! Wait for me?

*hugs&kisses!*

It is sooooooooo hot!!!!!!! :"S

Kara`s Comic for Comic Book Week June 27th, 2012 is "No Such Thing As A Free Lunch"............the next in the Beyond Watchmen series............Dan Dreiberg...........Nite Owl

From the movie I have a little crush on Dan actually...............so I have to forgive J. Michael Straczynski`s portrayal of Laurie Jupiter.............Silk Spectre natch! ;*) .............in this ish a bit..............I do not think that the fore shadowing of her relationship with Dan was really necessary, but the story is other wise very good & the art work by the great Kuberts can only be fabulous................& yah I have to mention the guy that told me that Joe is not as good as he 1ce was.................he has been drawing comix for ever!!!!!! He is still soooooooooooo good!

Not the best of all of the series but still very good! :)

RATING: 8 buttons out of 10!!!!

It is sooooooooooo hot!!!!!! Sorry that this review was soooooooo short!!!!!! Here is 1 of my fav scenes from the movie to make up! Oh & happy 4th of July & happy Canada Day! *hugs&kisses!* ツ*

Before Watchmen~Comedian #1 of 6 (DC)

"Oh. Hi, Jackie. Yeah, I needed a drink. Your boys, they play hard."~Edward Blake / Comedian

writer: Brian Azzarello
artist: J.G. Jones
color: Alex Sinclair
letters: Clem Robins
cover artist: J.G. Jones (shown)
variant covers: Eduardo Risso, Jim Lee with Scott Williams & Alex Sinclair
asst. editor: Camilla Zhang
assoc. editor: Mark Doyle
editor: Will Dennis
(Watchmen created by Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons)

Kara's Comic for Comic Book Week June 20th, 2012 is "Smile"............the ist ish of Comedian in the "Beyond Watchmen" series.

Like I said last week about the Silk Spectre I know that this whole series is sooooo controversial but omg it is soooooooooooo good!!!!!!! 8)

J.G. Jones is a fabulous artist & I ed his art work in Final Crisis & the covers of 52 & his ultra realistic versions of real people like Jackie O & JFK & all of his brothers & Marilyn Monroe are incredible! But the star of this ish is Mister Azzarello! I did not expect to enjoy Edward Blake since I am not a fan of violent characters such as the Punisher or Lobo but as Alan Moore did in the original Watchmen Brian Azzarello adds more depth to his character as he is intertwined in the lives of all of the real people that I have mentioned.................through 2 very important events in their lives...............*hint!hint!* & then we also learn may be why Edward sees Moloch The Mystic as some thing of a friend in Watchmen it!

I am even content to see Jackie O portrayed as a bit of the "b" word.............I did not like it & almost deducted points for this but I think that Mister Azzarello deserves very much credit to portray a real person in a very aggressive light! But I hope that some where in this series he sees fit to portray a woman in a favorable light...............this is my 1 warning! `;\

Again I feel badly for Mister Moore but I think that as Mister Gibbons seems to have made peace that this just starts to be more & more just a story that Alan Moore really feels no more attachment to these characters & has grown apart from them................sad but...............omg! These stories have all been soooooooooo amazing!!!!!!!!! 80

RATING: 10 buttons out of 10!!!!!!!!

ツ❀ Spring Spectacular 2! ❀ツ

Hey guys! Kara's Comic for Comic Book Week June 13th, 2012 is........................a whole buncha comix! lol! ;)))

Before Watchmen~Silk Spectre #1 (DC)
(Darwyn Cooke & Amanda Conner)

I know that every story about Before Watchmen has become very controversial................but Darwyn Cooke is soooooooo amazing! & Darwyn's work is absolutely the 2nd most important part of this story with Amanda Conner's fabulous & fun art work!!!!!!!!

Of all of the great Alan Moore's & Dave Gibbons' characters Laurie Jupiter was probably the least memorable but this ish completely reverses that!!!!!

10 out of 10!!!!!!!!
☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼  ☼

The Shade #9 of 12 (DC)
(James Robinson & Frazer Irving)

I think that this may be my fav ish so far of this limited series..............& I have said over & over again that this must be an on going series!

Richard Swift is clearly Mister Robinson's character but like Silk Spectre the art work by Frazer Irving steals the book!!!!!!! It is dark & stark & incredible!!!

½ out of 10!!!!!!
 ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼

Batman #10 (DC)
(Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo & Jonathan Glapion)

I have read a couple of reviews of this ish saying that the big surprise that impacts all of Bruce Wayne's history was very disappointing & that  Mister Snyder must have a better plan in place.............but I totally disagree!!!!!!! The way the story pieced together the mystery to tie the Court Of Owls to another owl in Batman's history was fabulous! Mister Syder can do no wrong for me & Greg Capullo's art work is only the wonder fully creamy frosting on the ice cream cake! lol! X)))

9 out of 10!!!!!
☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼  ☼ ☂
Batgirl #10 (DC)
(Gail Simone & Alitha Martinez & Vicente Cifuentes)

Like Mister Snyder..............I  Gail Simone & she can do no wrong! I  Babs Gordon! & although I do not know all of her work Alitha Martinez has been fabulous! So yah this ish was almost perfect! I would have rated it above Batman if Batman did not have a little bit of some thing special in that particular ish...............but Babs' helping out the criminal in this ish made me cry a little!

*sniff!* but I still miss Oracle! :(

9 out of 10!!!!! :)
☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼  ☼ ☂

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 9 #10 (Dark Horse)
(Andrew Chambliss & Scott Allie & Cliff Richards & Andy Owens & Joss Whedon)

I thought that this was a more fun end to the robot Buffy story than I expected! Not my fav ish of season 9 Buffy but I enjoyed the story & art & characters...............& okay I have been catching up on old Buffy episodes & I now have a little crush on Spike! ;9

Only 8 out of 10 but Mister Whedon can wipe his tears with "Avengers" money!!!! lol! ;))
☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☂ ☂

Incorruptible #30 (Boom!)
(Mark Waid & Damian Couceiro)

I think that I have actually liked this series more that the Irredeemable series from which it was spun...........& though the final ish was fun & I will miss it............it was a bit of a let down from how excellent the final ish of Irredeemable was. But Mister Waid does a fabulous job of bringing all of the arcs to an end & saying a satisfying good bye! :')

½ out of 10!!!
☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☁ ☂

Avengers Assemble #4 (Marvel)
(Brian Michael Bendis & Mark Bagley & Danny Miki & Paul Mounts)

I enjoyed this ish! I very much enjoyed Mark Bagley's art work! & the story was very good............if you read the cover you will know that the Avengers fight Thanos...............but why does Thor say that he is "Prince Of Asgardia"? What is Asgardia? & why would an alien as powerful as Thanos know sooooo much about a human spy with out any powers? & is this story part of the movie continuity or Marvel continuity? & why do ½ of the characters know a lot about Thanos½ do not?

I am confused! :S

6 out of 10!
☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂

Spider-Men #1 of 5 (Marvel)
(Brian Michael Bendis & Sara Pichelli & Justin Ponsor)

I wanted to like this ish & may be if I had not read Mister Bendis Avengers Assembled 1st then it would not have bothered me that Peter says Mysterio was a special effect. & New York is the biggest city in the world. & how can Peter not recognize the differences between a New York on his world & 1 that was flooded & is currently being invaded by 2 races of super humans? But Ms. Pichelli's art work is very prettie!

I still feel badly that I seem to keep rating Marvel comix so poorly! :(

preview!!!!!! ~ The Evil Tree (Arcana)

"As she starts to run, she sees feet dangling from an evil tree...they sway back and forth in the breeze. 'Bring me my babies,' a voice says from above...as the axe comes down on her head."~the narrator

writer: Erik Hendrix
artist: Daniel Thollin
colorist: Anna Sällström
editor: Amanda Hendrix
ceo & founder: Sean Patrick O'Reilly
vp of publishing: Erik Hendrix
vp of sales: Michelle Meyers
vp of operations: Mark Poulton
senior editor: Amanda Hendrix
exec. administrator: Emma Waddell

Kara's Comic for Comic Book Week May 30th, 2012, is a special preview of "The Evil Tree" by Arcana Studio! I have not done a preview in this way before so I hope that I will honor the creators who have given me this chance!...............thanx, Erik! ;*)

"The Evil Tree" is a self contained graphic novel telling a frightening tale of a group of young 30 something friends spending the weekend in a newly purchased country home in Allegany, New York. The home belongs to Misha & she is accompanied by her fiance Daren & their friends Even, Amarra, Sergio, Daphne & Debby. After a snowy trip on icy roads they reach the home & they find the evil tree outside & the horror story begins! XD

The story progresses very quickly as most horror stories in comic books kindof have to do to maintain the tension. With so many characters this does not really allow for getting to know each of the 7 main characters introduced from the start..............but Mister Hendrix does manage to define each of the characters while putting most of the focus on Misha & Daren to help us to focus & care about them. The story of the original Irish immigrant owners of the house makes the tale unique & special..............told in chapter 2, it is at this point that I felt drawn into the story. :)

The coloring jumped out at me from the very start! Muted mostly but popping off the page at the right moment.........it almost detracted from the art work at 1st until I realized how much the work itself reminded me of "The Walking Dead"............a good thing! The art work seemed to grow darker & more luscious from start to finish............& took on a very "From Hell".............Eddie Campbell.............quality for the tale of the original owners that I just referred to.............even better than "The Walking Dead"! Great job Ms. Sällström & Mr. Thollin!

"The Evil Tree" is an excellent story to curl up with on a dark & snowy night.............curled up in your sweetie's arms in front of a burning fire with all of the lights out.............& when you reach the end & read of & see Mister Hendrix's inspirations for the story, look out the window at a barren tree & try not to scream! ;b

RATING: 7 evil trees out of 10!!!!

Here is a special preview of the 1st 9 pages of "The Evil Tree"!  ツ* edit: (fyi......."The Evil Tree" is copyright 2012 Arcana Studios Inc. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED........www.arcana.com)

Irredeemable #37 (Boom! Studios)

"I got a good feeling about him, Joe!"~Siegel ;)

created and written by: Mark Waid
artist: Diego Barreto
colorist: Nolan Woodard
letterer: Ed Dukeshire
editors: Matt Gagnon & Shannon Watters
cover a: Kalman Andrasofszky & Nolan Woodard
cover b: Matteo Scalera & Darrin Moore

Kara's Comic for Comic Book Week May 23rd, 2012 is the final issue of Mark Waid's story about Superman gone bad & mad! :)

The Plutonian was really Superman on another version of Earth where he eventually made a mistake that made some people mad at him & his frustration made him turn evil. That world's version of the Justice League desperately tried to stop him but failed over & over until this ish.............when a character...............Qubit whom I think is supposed to may be be a version of Brainiac 5 from the Legion of Super Heroes since Hornet was the Batman character...................comes up with a plan to stop 'Tony' & also save the world from the disaster caused by the previous plan.

The art work is very nice but is not the driving factor in this comic.................that is Mark Waid's story which all at once is both familiar & unique................especially Modeus, Plutonian's version of Lex Luthor...............I do not want to give that away! ;)

Mark Waid ends his very interesting tale by redeeming Plutonian in away that also links him to all of the many versions of Superman.................Supreme & Captain Marvel / Shazam & Hyperion & Icon & Mister Majestic & all of the rest.................in the most unique way! That & the Modeus story make this worth while buying as a tpb...............trade paper back natch! ;b

RATING: 7 SUPERGIRLS out of 10!!!!

Just because!!!!!!! Lol! ;b

I was kindof surprised that this was the last ish & I am wondering what will happen to the similar but opposite title 'Incorruptible' also by Mark Waid & Boom! :S

Fairest #3 (Vertigo / DC)

"You should have seen me in the sixties, when I had my rock band out in the mundy. An all-girl group called the Dirty Birds."~Briar Rose / Sleeping Beauty

writer: Bill Willingham
pencils: Phil Jimenez
inks: Andy Lanning & Mark Farmer
colors: Andrew Dalhousie
letters: Todd Klein
cover: Adam Hughes
asst. editor: Gregory Lockard
editor: Shelly Bond
special thanks to: Zander Cannon

(Fairest is created by Bill Willingham)

Kara's comic for Comic Book Week May 16th, 2012 is "Party Crasher~Chapter Three of Wide Awake".............as Bill Willingham & Phil Jimenez continue to tell the story of Sleeping Beauty as she is captured by the ice queen along with Ali Baba! :)

All of these stories coming together is fun! Even though the story is very much a middle part that does not really have much to it.............I hope that this is just because the story needs to be told all together because this part was actually kindof boring...............I really hope that I am not reaching a point of Fables over load between Fables & Cinderella & Jack Of Fables & Literals & now Fairest! 8(

But even with a so so story................with Adam Hughes drawing the cover..............even with his apparent boob fetish 9,9 ...............& Phil Jimenez drawing the inside Fairest is the prettiest comic book I can think of!

& so short & sweet...............like me ;b .................

RATING: 7 ice queen kisses out of 10!!!!

btw!!!!!!!

I passed 10000 page views this week!!!!!!!!! Thanx sooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!

Non Spoilery Review For "The Avengers"!!!!!! ;)

"The Avengers" by Marvel Movies on Internet Movie Database
I saw "The Avengers" on Imax 3 D with 9 friends.............we all ed it! :)

The movie was like watching a George Pérez & Kurt Busiek comic book on the screen! Fabulous! XD

The best parts were Robert Downey Junior ( ;9 ), Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow..........I was surprised!............, Thor's arrival, Loki's hot evilness ( ;) ), Agents Phil Coulsen & Maria Hill, the 45 minute climatic battle, & Joss Whedon's ability to make comix real!!!!!!!

The only 2 problems that I can think of are the lack of women Avengers.........though Black Widow & Maria Hill are fabulous............& that the movie may be hard to get in to if you have not seen "Iron Man", "The Incredible Hulk", "Iron Man 2", "Thor", & "Captain America~The 1st Avenger"...............but you have to see the 2 scenes after the end of the movie! 1 before the credits & 1 after! STAY!!!!!!!!!

RATING: 10 Avenger friends out of 10!!!!!!!!

Sorry that I was a little bit late & a little bit short!!!! I was not sure how to review my 1st movie! Let me know how I did! :)

Superman #8 (DC)

"This is so unlike Clark."~Lois Lane

scripted and co-plotted: Keith Giffen
pencil art and and co-plotted: Dan Jurgens
finished art: Jesus Mérino
colored: Tanya & Richard Horie
lettered: Carlos M. Mangual
associate editor: Wil Moss
editor: Matt Idelson
cover: Ivan Reis, Joe Prado & Rod Reis

(Superman created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster)

Kara's comic for Comic Book Week April 25th, 2012 is my cuz.......lol!........Superman #8! :)

Keith Giffen & I enjoy misters Jurgens & Mérino & the art work is really nice & the story is not bad but why does the new 52 Kal-el have to be soooooooo mean & unlikable? :(

kal only minds if the bad guy is a bad guy on earth but not on another planet? :S
In the new creators' 2nd ish Clark is finishing off his fight against Helspont.............formerly from the Wildstorm universe & member of the Daemonite alien race............who kidnapped Superman to make him..........Superman...........help him............Helspont............do bad things. & Clark does not seem to care unless those bad things are here on earth. If it were Jupiter that would be fine. `:S

sorry jimmy but it is really your fault for carrying kryptonite in your suitcase! :(
While Clark / Superman eventually decides that he should stop Helspont.............though he *spoiler!* does not really *endspoiler!*.............Clark returns home where he has for gotten Jimmy Olsen was staying over..............& then mister super powers decides that opening the door for his pal is more than enough help for the day! ~>:(

But the art work is kindof nice.

RATING: 5 'my' supergirls out of 10! :(

"The Avengers" is this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! X))))))))

A Birds Of Prey Movie! ツ

Several weeks ago I wrote a blog post for my fellow ladies & I promised a blog for the guys.................well as I am not an expert I decided how about if I try to cast a movie with some lovely ladies? Okay?

So I was watching some old episodes of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer"............which I !.............. & I thought that..............wow! The stars could be the stars of Gail Simone`s (!) version of The Birds of Prey! & after wasting much time to find a character for James Marsters..............I was an Angel fan but watching again Spike has won me over ( ;9 )...............I decided that the best positions to fill were the women any way............

Alyson Hannigan / Willow Rosenberg as Barbara Gordon / Oracle

Willow was already a computer genius & a red head soooooooo..............easy! :)
Sarah Michelle Gellar / Buffy Summers as Dinah Lance Drake / Black Canary

I do not know if Sarah is an actual martial artist but she has displayed her abilities in both Buffy & the Scooby Doo movies as Daphne (!) so why not 1 more time? :)
Eliza Dushku / Faith Lehane as Helena Bertinelli / The Huntress

While some may  Eliza & some may not she has the right look for the violent mafia princess / school teacher & she can just keep playing the same bad girl she does as Faith! :)
Emma Caufield / Anya Jenkins as Zinda Blake / Lady Blackhawk

While I wanted to use Amber Benson / Tara Maclay (!) for a character Emma Caufield is soooooo perfect for the smart aleckie lost in time Zinda! :)
Anthony Stewart Head / Rupert Giles as Ra's Al Ghul

Okay so 1 guy with the girls! ;)

Anthony Stewart Head as The Demon's Head...........how perfect for the bad guy that once dated Dinah? :)

bye until next week! ツ*

America's Got Powers #1 of 6 (Image)

"For a fraction of a second it glowed brighter than anything anyone had ever seen."~

script & story & art: Jonathan Ross & Bryan Hitch
inkers: Andrew Currie & Paul Neary
colorist: Paul Mounts
letterer: Chris Eliopoulos

Kara's comic for Comic Book Week April 11th, 2012 is the 1st ish of a new Image comic limited series called.............."America's Got Powers"!!!! 8)

If this name reminds you of the television program "America's Got Talent".............it is supposed to! ;)

In a story beginning that is very reminiscent of J. Michael Straczynski's Joe's Comics / Top Cow / Image comic "Rising Stars", an unexplained event gives all of the babies about to be born in San Francisco 17 years ago super powers. Today those children are now made to compete to join "the world's only official super team"!..............which seems to be very reminicent of "The Hunger Games" to me! `;S

As I said the story seems to be very much like a bunch of other popular stories put together............it might be interesting as a whole story.............may be? 9,9

The art work with Bryan Hitch & Paul Neary assisting...........they of the original Marvel "Ultimates" natch! ;) ...............is very gritty & detailed although the color could be a little more 'poppie'..............it seems a little bit flat. :(

Not a bad comic but..............

RATING: 6 Katnisses out of 10!!!!!! ;b

the back cover! :)
